Katie's Corner

Those of you who had the opportunity to work with Emily Hornak know what a gracious and impassioned individual she is. She worked tirelessly during her time with Children's Miracle Network to make the Dance Marathon program what it is today. When Emily returned to Children’s Hospital of Birmingham last summer to pursue an opportunity in grant writing, she left behind a legacy of great strides and some big shoes to fill.

But I am looking forward to the challenge! Change is hard, but we always grow from it and usually find ourselves in a better place as a result of the experience. Just look at your Dance Marathon—traditions have been established over the years and success has been found, yet each year allows for new students to become involved and bring their own ideas to enhance the event.

I look forward to working with you all as we continue to grow the Children's Miracle Network Dance Marathon community. Thank you for all you have done to bring Dance Marathon to the point where there are now more than 80 schools generating $3 million dollars a year, and for keeping the focus where it should be—on the kids.

Kindest regards,

Katie Schrier
